Well what can we say? Firstly what about a little about our history and how we got
started. We are two girls who live in the lovely Suffolk countryside & met in 2002 whilst
working for a large corporation who we shan’t name! It was a million miles away from
where we wanted to be, spending our days creating lovely things and sharing our ideas
with like minded crafters. We finally had enough of talking about our dream, and
stitching in our lunch breaks that in October 2006 we decided we would give becoming
business partners a go!
Now that was the easy bit, after around seventeen boxes of jaffa cakes, copious cups of
tea and hundreds of late night phone calls we decided on a name. It couldn’t just be any
name we had to have one that was perfect, fun & simple (just like us ;)), so
Buttonberry was born. Once we were armed with our domain there was no stopping us....
The frantic evenings of deciding on designs, colours (all the important, pretty things
you understand) & how we wanted the website to work for our lovely customers began; boy
did we have fun with that! We finally decided that simplicity was the key and set to
work. In April 2007 we launched the site and haven’t looked back since, we are really
enjoying our new found direction and are learning more everyday.
We still harbour a huge dream to have a real life shop and don't worry it WILL happen, as
we simply can't wait to meet our customers and share the fun of being
surrounded by all these beautiful things everyday! However until that day
you will have to make do with seeing our smiley, excitable faces at all the shows around
the U.K. - (although you might have had enough of us after all that!)
Still want more? Oh ok *deep breath* here goes.....
Emma (the one with the knowledge): mum sews, knits, paints, everything, sister
does too. They're really creative but I'm only able to follow patterns
- not make them up! I love fabric and realise that I actually collect
it (what with never having time to use it!) I have gone from just
quilts to all sorts of sewing and have more cushions and throws around
my house then is strictly necessary! After shopping for my hobby
around the world I realised that we could offer our customers a
friendly, fluffy service and could maybe share the things we loved with
other people. My pet hates are rudeness and poor customer service. I
live in Suffolk with my long suffering, toy boy husband and 2 beautiful
cats.
Lisa (The Apprentice): mum doesn't sew, dad does, and sister loves paint by numbers! I'm the
creative one; at least I would be if I had the time. I studied for my art foundation in
1999 and then for some silly reason I decided to get a real job. Don't worry I have seen
sense now! I like to potter, paint and do anything crafty, it often involves doing
something for someone else so unlike Emma I tend to give everything away! My pet hates
too are rudeness and bad service - it costs nothing to be polite! So between us we'll try
to offer the best customer service around & never stop adding those personal touches. I
too live in Suffolk (round the corner from my lovely colleague - I actually moved to be
closer, now that is commitment people..) with my lovely boyfriend who supplies us with
all the technical know how for the clever bits of our website and my two Cats who are the
big brothers of Emma's beautiful kitties!
